ABOUT ME

Karen brings over 20 years of leadership experience in the nonprofit and federal sectors, with a proven record of building successful, community-driven initiatives. As the founder, President, and manager of three all-volunteer animal welfare organizations, she worked closely with boards to develop programs, secure funding, and build strong volunteer networks. Under her leadership, volunteer participation grew by 400% in under five years, and annual revenue increased by 50% through successful grant acquisition and innovative fundraising campaigns — including several first-ever events in Contra Costa County. Her efforts helped thousands of cats and dogs find homes, and led to the surgical alteration of more than 6,000 community cats, significantly reducing overpopulation in local neighborhoods.

Karen also revitalized a small business, restoring profitability within five years through superior customer service and strategic management.

With more than two decades of federal service across three agencies, including experience supervising a team of 30 employees, Karen has deep knowledge of government operations, policy navigation, and effective organizational management.

Today, Karen leverages her combined nonprofit, business, and federal experience to support community-based organizations. She provides guidance on nonprofit formation, grant strategy, revenue development, and regulatory compliance.  Karen partners with clients to build strong organizational foundations, identify growth opportunities, and design strategic plans that lead to sustainable success.
